Dr. Lee's research centers equity and justice in education with particular emphasis on urban teacher preparation, Black teacher sustainability, teachers’ mental health and wellness, and Black feminist theory. The above video is a Three Minute Thesis that she presented on her dissertation study in the final round of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte's 2021 3MT® competition. Dr. Lee was awarded Third Place out of 74 contestants in this competition, and she won First Place in another 3MT® competition that was held at the 2021 annual meeting of the North Carolina Association for Research in Education.

Dr. Lee maintains active scholarly engagement and regularly disseminates her research at various academic conferences, including the annual meetings of the American Educational Research Association, National Association for Multicultural Education, International Conference on Urban Education, Critical Questions in Education, and Association of Teacher Educators.
